Schneider VAMP 300G Generator Protection and Control Relay is used where a generator needs more than basic overcurrent protection. It handles generator differential protection along with earth fault, voltage, frequency, power and other generator protection duties from one panel-mounted relay.

The relay can protect the generator alone or form part of a wider scheme covering the generator and its block transformer. It is generally used on medium-sized generating units in industrial power plants, captive power systems, utilities, marine installations and process facilities. VAMP 300G is the generator protection model within Schneider’s PowerLogic VAMP 300 range.

After a trip, engineers can check event records, fault values and disturbance data rather than relying only on the trip indication. This makes it easier to find the reason for a shutdown and confirm which protection stage operated.

An optional RTD interface can bring generator winding and bearing temperatures into the protection system. Optional arc flash protection can also be added for generator switchgear where rapid detection and tripping of an internal arc fault are required.

Relay settings, logic, measurements and stored records are handled through VAMPSET software. Communication options vary with the selected hardware and can include IEC 61850, Modbus, Profibus and DNP3.
