Schneider Electric PowerLogic™ MiCOM P723 Numerical High Impedance Differential Relay
Schneider Electric PowerLogic™ MiCOM P723 Numerical High Impedance Differential Relay is built for high impedance differential protection in applications where fast fault clearance and dependable stability are important. It belongs to the MiCOM P72x range and is used in generator, motor, reactor and busbar protection schemes where conventional differential arrangements need a simple but secure solution.
Unlike the single-phase MiCOM P721, the MiCOM P723 is intended for **three-phase high impedance differential protection** and can also be configured for **high impedance differential earth fault protection**. Depending on the connection setting, it can be used as **87 phase differential protection** or **87N earth differential protection**. This gives it more flexibility in installations where the protection scheme has to cover phase faults as well as earth fault conditions.
The relay keeps the basic advantages of a traditional high impedance scheme while adding the benefits of numerical protection. It provides event records, fault records, disturbance records and communication capabilities that make fault analysis easier and help maintenance teams understand how the protection operated during a fault.
