The UA75…RA series 3-pole contactors are specifically designed for capacitor switching applications, particularly in installations where peak inrush currents can exceed 100 times the nominal RMS current. These contactors are delivered fully assembled with integrated damping resistors and are intended for use without additional inductances (refer to the table below for guidance). Before re-energizing, capacitors must be fully discharged, with residual terminal voltage not exceeding 50 V.
Engineered for durability, the UA…RA contactors offer an electrical lifespan of 250,000 operations at voltages below 500 V, and 100,000 operations for voltages between 500 V and 690 V. Each contactor includes a specially designed front-mounted block that serially inserts three damping resistors into the circuit, effectively limiting inrush current at the moment the capacitor bank is energized. This configuration also allows for capacitor precharging, minimizing the second current peak during the closing of the main contacts.
By incorporating these resistors, the UA…RA contactors efficiently reduce peak currents during capacitor switching, regardless of their intensity. These contactors feature a block-type design with three main poles, operate on AC control circuits with laminated magnet circuits, and are compatible with a wide selection of accessories to suit various installation requirements.
