The UA16-30-10RA contactor, rated for 220-230V 50Hz / 230-240V 60Hz, is a 3-pole device designed specifically for capacitor switching in installations where the peak current can exceed 100 times the nominal RMS current. Supplied with integrated damping resistors, the contactor must be used without additional inductances (refer to the table below). To ensure safe operation, capacitors must be discharged to a maximum residual voltage of ≤ 50 V at their terminals before being re-energized during contactor operation. The contactor boasts an electrical durability of 250,000 operating cycles for Ue < 500 V and 100,000 cycles for 500 V ≤ Ue ≤ 690 V.
The UA..RA series is equipped with a front-mounted block that facilitates the serial insertion of three damping resistors into the circuit, effectively limiting the initial current peak when energizing the capacitor bank. This configuration also supports capacitor pre-charging, minimizing the secondary current peak upon activation of the main poles. The inclusion of resistors ensures effective damping of even the highest current peaks during capacitor switching, regardless of their level.
Featuring a block-type design, the UA..RA series contactors include three main poles and one built-in auxiliary contact.
